Everyday two to four million people watch the news daily. When people watch the news they only see the negative things about the world, rarely the positive. Ever since the peak of Covid-19 in 2020 there has been so much negative and not enough positive news. Which is why I’m here to tell you some positive news you probably didn’t know.
Did you know that ecologists reported that the Mississippi River is the cleanest it's been in more than a century. What about that US poverty has fallen by 9.1%, the lowest level recorded? The US government also launched a food assistance program to help 25 million Americans who don’t have enough to eat.
How about this? Did you know the great barrier reef is showing its highest amount of coral coverage in over 36 years! Not only that but, Manatees, giant Pandas, southern white rhinos, and more are no longer on the endangered species list! A new test offers hope for catching cancer early! Scientists have recently discovered a test that will improve survival rates for cervical cancer. In early stages of the cancer's development, “the test can more accurately detect cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer. It also picks up DNA markers for other cancers, which in theory means it could one day be used as a predictive test for breast, womb and ovarian cancer.”
Did you hear about the new sanctuary? The first whale sanctuary was opened in North America! The first wile refuge for orcas and beluga whales hopes to open a coastal location in Port Hilford near Nova Scotia by 2023. This sanctuary will rescue captive whales around North America. The refuge will have underwater nets to let the whales be able to swim around but still remain contained. This area will have a depth of 16 meters and gives these animals triple the amount of space they've known since captivity. Once the sanctuary passes the environmental-assessment, the sanctuary will be able to welcome more whales into their home.
There is so much negativity around the world and I want to be able to show some positives. If you're interested in learning about more positive news I’ve linked websites below that will bring you to specifically good news only.
