On January 24, Rebels showed off their school spirit at the 2023 Winter Sports Kickoff.
The pep rally highlighted winter sports such as bowling, basketball, and indoor track and field. Both JV and varsity basketball cheerleaders performed, bringing attention to the Vestavia vs. Hoover basketball game scheduled for that night. They were followed by the JV and varsity football cheerleaders, who will attend nationals in Orlando soon. Then, both JV and varsity Rebelettes performed an upbeat and energetic dance.
After the performances, the fall charity video was screened on the projector, and it included clips from the Powerpuff game, the talent show, and the Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game.
Following the video, the winter sports coaches came up to the microphone to introduce their respective teams. Coach Evans introduced bowling as a team that is for everyone ranging from football players to soccer players to anime fans. Coach Anderson introduced the seniors of the indoor track and field team. Coach Davis pranked everyone with a small lie that school would be excused the next day for those who attended the basketball game that night. Following his joke, he introduced both the senior boys and girls basketball players.
Lastly, members of SGA presented the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with a check of $51,500—this presentation outshined all the performances included in the pep rally. The event concluded with the traditional singing of the Vestavia Hills Alma Mater.
