The Girls Flag Football Team and Their Chance on the Field

The VHHS Flag Football Team is currently in its second season, and it is led by three different coaches: Coach Doug (offensive coach), Coach Brian (defensive coach), and Coach Broome. The team consists of multiple athletes from every grade level, including several seniors. Merritt Kelley (#33) plays center and linebacker for the team. Emma Chase Neely (#4) is one of the guards, and Mary-Addison Wolfe (#18) is one of the linebackers. Mia Garrison (#56) also plays linebacker, and Ella Gallaspy (#2) plays quarterback. Next is Elizabeth Steele (#11), who plays stack. Lastly for the seniors, we have Kaya Franklin (#10), who plays linebacker.


For the juniors, we have Scarlett Padgett (#40), who plays guard and linebacker. Holland Warren (#24) is the team's kicker and linebacker, and Christiana Belcher (#12) plays guard and safety. Lindsay Green (#17) and Aubrey Martinez (#16) both play corner. Next is Ally Perry (#8), who plays corner and guard, and Emily Coope (#42), who plays middle linebacker for the team. Then we have Gabi Ramirez (#31), who plays linebacker, and Ella Stephens (#20), who plays corner. Finally, we have Savannah Grayson (#34), who plays wideout.



For the sophomores, Addison Armstrong (#22) plays center, and Lil Sap (#00) plays quarterback. Next is Isa Willey (#25), who plays guard. Lastly, we have Emily Spooner (#38), who plays wideout.


Finally, we have the freshman players. Bailey Corley (#99) plays wideout, and Emily Owen (#7) plays corner and linebacker. Julia Rose (#66) plays wideout and quarterback.



The girls flag football team has had an incredible 2022 season, which ends in a few weeks. However, they have a couple more games that you should come out and support. On October 19 at 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 7:00 pm, the team plays at Vestavia Hills High School; this day is also Senior Night. Their last game before playoffs is on October 25 at Spain Park High School, and they will play at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The flag football team is made up of incredible athletes that should have more recognition, so make time to come out to one of these games to support these hardworking players.
