Spot On: The Perfect Hangout Spots

Looking for the perfect spot to hang with friends? From fun group activities to cool, Instagrammable locations, here are some fun ideas to explore.

Strike a Pose

Grab some goofy shoes at Vestavia Bowl and see who can get a “turkey” first. Or head to Bowlero at 2908 Riverview Rd. where you can try blacklight lanes, chill on lane-side loungers, and enjoy shareable eats like their 6 pound Behemoth Burger.

Coffee & Cats

What’s more purrrrfect than your favorite latte? A furry friend to enjoy it with. Starbucks is great, but if you have time, make a reservation at Gatos & Beans, Alabama’s “first ever cat cafe” at 4348 3rd Court South. For just $12, you get an hour-long visit with adorable, adoptable cats and your choice of a coffee or soft drink.

Dive in

Whether you love Wald Park Pool, Vestavia Country Club or Lifetime, there are lots of places to get wet in Vestavia. But in Pelham, you can also get SCUBA certified at Blue Water Park. Located in an old quarry, it’s perfect for divers of all skill levels. You can see bass, freshwater jellyfish, turtles and underwater attractions including fire trucks, cars, a school bus, and the rare “freshwater dolphin.” You can also take paddleboard yoga classes!

Magic City Murals

At this point, you probably have a few posts featuring the Vestavia mural in the parking deck at City Center. Maybe it’s time to explore options in the rest of Birmingham? The wings outside of MELT at 4105 Fourth Avenue South make you look like a real-life angel. The John Lytle Wilson robot mural on Morris Avenue downtown is also a great place to grab a shot.

The next time you’re looking for something different to do, grab some friends, keep an open mind, and explore some of the amazing options in Vestavia and beyond!
