Pep Rally/ Game Themes To Consider

**All media below is the opinion of an individual student and therefore does not represent or speak to the values of Vestavia Hills High School and Vestavia Hills City Schools**

The past few football seasons at Vestavia Hills High school have been outstanding. Vestavia students never fail to support the Rebels as they face their biggest rivals. It is important to note that many students have expressed a desire for certain pep rally themes, and our student body is a powerhouse for creativity. I want the students' voices to be heard about what they want.
I interviewed and asked about forty students from different grade levels two questions. Almost every response I got was different for the first question, but every single answer was the same for the second. "What themes for games or pep rallies that have not been used do you want to do?" and "Do you want to do more themes at different games? For example, basketball games?"
11th grader Adam Watson responded, "We should totally crowd surf with someone and play Jack Sparrow music!" Honestly, I love the idea of the crowd surf, but sadly that is not up to me. 11th grader Mark Rainey had an excellent idea that I personally really like. He said, "How about paint Spain park? We could dress up like a famous artist or just paint ourselves." 12th grader Sumedha Tandon came up with a theme inspired by the iconic Disney movie Teen Beach Movie. She said, "What if we did like a bikers vs. surfers day like in Teen Beach Movie." 10th graders Isabel Jaquess and Whitney both suggested a couple of themes.

To summarize, they wanted to do a pep rally called "Bring anything but a backpack day" or a fraternity/sorority theme. The seniors just recently did BRUH the Bucs, but the fraternity theme has been such a wanted theme for all grades that I feel we should bring it back for everyone. These are only a few of the people I interviewed that gave me their permission to publish their names. 80% of the people I interviewed wanted to be anonymous, so here are some brilliant themes that these students suggested: White lies, twin day (dress the same as your best friend), rock and roll, animals, ONLY aliens; one suggested a little miss/mister day (an example a picture will is posted below). They also suggested different holidays, fight night (dress up as a boxer), construction workers, Auburn vs. Alabama, superheroes, minions, referees, and Harry Potter.

I could honestly write another five paragraphs that talk about some amazing themes students have suggested, but what I just wrote was the most popular ideas. I hope that for the rest of the 2022-2023 school year, the Directors of Spirit for each grade will come together and choose these ideas that students suggested. I want Vestavia's student body voices to be heard, especially in student activities.
