Hey everyone! We’re back!!
The beginning of the school year is always super busy, but Vestavia Pillar is in full swing! With everything going on right now, there are a lot of adjustments to get used to. Personally, I have been navigating many changes and mixed emotions going into my senior year. Despite all the adjustments, I am still looking forward to an amazing year!
I’m thrilled to get back in the groove of reading these amazing articles written by our talented writers with one drop every two weeks. Pillar releases every other Monday, with half the staff assigned to each drop. This is the third year of Vestavia Pillar, and it continues to amplify our students' voices.
Pillar’s staff meets monthly to discuss article assignments and set deadlines. The articles consist of events ranging from football games to dances. Additionally, the writers have the option to cover topics that interest them. For me, these articles are super entertaining to read about. It’s great to hear what the writers say about topics ranging from best study spots around town to advice for underclassmen.
Each article is edited by our student editors: Ethan Melenevsky on News, Angela Zhang on Student Life, Greta Christiansen on Opinion, and Jaymin Bae as Junior Editor. After their edits, each article is reviewed by the Editor-In-Chief (me) and formatted for posting on the website.
I'm incredibly proud of this first drop! Our talented writers covered everything from the buses breaking down on the way to Auburn to recapping the math team’s trip to Las Vegas this past summer. There’s sure to be something for everyone! I hope this set of articles helps you feel more connected to our lovely community, Vestavia Hills!
Happy reading,
Jasmine Zhang
Editor-in-Chief
