Happy Homecoming everyone! Vestavia didn’t back down against T-County on Friday, October 18, playing an amazing Homecoming game.
Before the game started, attendees enjoyed a variety of fun activities. Hopefully, you got a chance to see all the hard work put into the floats. The freshmen’s float featured a fireplace and rocking chain along with pictures of past Rebel players and coaches for its Throwback T-County theme. The sophomores’ Cosmic the Cats float centered a UFO against a glow-in-the-dark background, and the juniors’ float depicted a Rebel hunting a wildcat in front of a forest backdrop for Track T-County. The seniors’ Toy Story T-County float featured Woody and a spinning rocket ship, and the band’s float comprised a bed with stuffed animals for Tire Out T-County. The winner of the homecoming float contest was the Seniors and the runner-up was the Juniors! Then, the Rebelettes put on an amazing homecoming performance under the stadium lights. Finally, the band put on another great performance of “Blame it on the Boogie,” their theme for the 2024 season.
Following the excitement of the pre-game festivities, Vestavia started the game strong with a touchdown on its starting drive; things only went uphill from there—not only did the Rebels’ offense consistently make first downs and secure good yardage running and throwing the ball, but the defense kept T-County off the scoreboard throughout the entire first half.
At halftime, the VHHS Homecoming Court came out onto the field in dazzling dresses. The talented and stunning Homecoming Queen nominees all were very deserving, but only one could be crowned as Homecoming Queen. Earlier in the day, freshman Jake Cesnik was crowned Homecoming King; during halftime, he placed the other crown on his new counterpart—Joi Cook!
Congratulations to all of the Homecoming Court nominees and a big thanks to the Homecoming King for raising the most money for Life Skills, our fall charity.
Coming into the second half, fans players and fans alike were worn but excited. Vestavia continued its dominant streak against T-County despite the cold temperatures; the Rebels finished out the game with an overwhelming 42-0 lead.
The captains for the homecoming football game were Carson Mann, Eli Rooks, Larry McSwain Jr, and Logan Richter. Thanks to their and the whole team’s efforts, T-County didn’t score the entire game!
