It’s finally Halloween 2022, and because the official day is a Monday, the entire weekend is full of festivities, and many costumes. Even though the holiday is basically four days long, no one can answer the question of what is going on. Nearly 44% of Vestavia Hills High School students didn’t know what they would dress up as up to two days before the 31st. On top of that, another 10% said they weren’t dressing up at all. Those who participate plan to go to costume parties, hang out with their friends, take their siblings trick-or-treating, or stay home and hand out candy. When asking students if they decorate their houses for the holiday, the results were just about 50/50. Students with younger siblings answered that they decorate their homes and dress up for a holiday at a higher rate than students who do not have younger siblings.
I asked nearly 70 students about their Halloween costume plans. Excluding the 54% of students that still need a definitive answer about their plans, listed below is what they (and one baby) are dressing up as! This year's most popular costumes are pirates, police officers, and various movie characters.
