Fundraiser Ideas for RISE

Pratul Danasekar

RISE has officially started, and you may be wondering how you can contribute. If you are not part of a RISE team already, all you have to do is ask to join a friend’s group or create your own. One of the most common and lucrative fundraisers is arranging simple bake sales throughout the school day. Of course, this works with any other item, as long as it's appropriate to sell during school, and if you would like to, you can go door to door around your neighborhood selling your products. If you want to take a more community-directed approach to fundraising, consider doing a hand carwash for your neighborhood or a community yard sale (where you collect donated items and sell them). If you’re looking for an idea that would fit your group's strengths and interests, think about any hobbies you share. Once you figure that out, think about how you can turn those shared interests into fundraising. For example, if you all like playing music, you could hold a mini-concert.

Make sure you do plenty of research and planning before you start your fundraising. First, the captains need to communicate with the team about what the plan is. A list should be made that considers all the expenses and how they will be taken care of. For example, will you give all the revenue to RISE or only the profits? If the RISE group has more members than needed for the fundraiser, try holding two fundraisers simultaneously, perhaps at different times or locations, so that all the members are involved equally. For RISE day, each group will be given a tent space to work in if they need it. There will be more limitations, such as electricity, but you are guaranteed a large customer base that day. This is the most important event of RISE and where the most money is often made. Make sure you check with other RISE groups to see if you have any conflicting ideas and consider consolidating your efforts with another group. Use any resources you have at your disposal. For example, if someone in your group has a popcorn machine or a connection to a business that sells ice cream, utilize it.

Before going through with any of your ideas, always make sure you check with Mrs. Sweeney in room A241. Always remember to have fun and know that you are directly serving your community. Go Rebels!
