Carrollton Track Meet

On March 12th, the Vestavia Track and Field team traveled to Georgia to take on the Carrollton High School Trojans. This meet was a special experience for the Rebels, especially since Carrollton High School is Vestavia's sprint coach Coach O’Neil’s alma mater.


In Pole Vault, Kennedy Moreland won for the girls, and Brady Ferrell took second for the boys. Tyler Dressback and Hollis Smith tied for second place in the High Jump, and Barclay Brown took first. Next, the Rebels took on Triple Jump. Sofia Ye and Molly Mac Sharp took first and second. Nate Bradshaw won for the boys and set a new school record of 44’ 5.5”. In the Long Jump, Jack Stubbs set a school record of 24’ 10” and Nate Bradshaw took second. The girls took second, third, and fourth. The Vestavia girls scored 71 points, and the boys scored 80 points in jump events.


Four Vestavia boys placed top ten in Discus, and Mya Looney placed fifth for the girls. In Shot Put, Addison Armstrong took second, and Chase Kaiser and Drake Renta placed first and second for the boys. In throwing events, the Rebel girls scored 14.5 points, and the boys scored 30 points.


In the 100-meter hurdles, Reese Beckner took first, and Emily Spooner took second. In the 110-meter hurdles, Graham Gwaltney took first and the Rebel boys swept the podium, taking first place through fourth place. Shana Shaw placed second in the 100-meter dash with a personal record (PR) of 12.71 seconds. Chase Webb and Jack Stubbs both ran under 11 seconds, taking first and second place. The Vestavia boys' Sprint Medley Relay teams took second and third. In the 1600-meter run, the Vestavia girls took first through fourth place, with Kate McKinnon in first. The Vestavia girls 4x100 meter relay team “A” was disqualified for a faulty handoff, but the “B” team took second place. The boys' teams took first, fourth, and fifth place. Kaeli North took second in the girls 400 400-meter dash, and Garrett Jones took first for the boys. Ruth Farmer was third in the 800, and Daniel Johnson placed first. Shana Shaw won the girls 200 200-meter dash with a PR of 26.04. Chase Webb and Cance Mills took first and second place for the boys. Emily Spooner and Tyler Bradshaw won the 300-meter hurdles. To close out the night, both boys and girls Vestavia teams won the 4x400 meter relay. In total, the Rebel girls scored 134 points, and the boys scored 217 points in sprint events.


Overall, the Vestavia girls finished second with 219.50 points, and the Vestavia boys won with 326 points. Go Rebels!
